The Externsteine

Pictures I took a couple of years ago at the “Externsteine”, using my camera and my phone.
The Externsteine is a distinctive sandstone rock formation located in the Teutoburg Forest, in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
It is presumed to have been a sacred site in ancient times, that is certainly possible, yet, no clear evidence about that exists. In several pagan / heathen groups today it has such a status.
The site was under the Nazi regime abused – they became a focus of Nazi propaganda.
Today it is also a renowned tourist attraction for visitors from all over the world.
